About Patrick Piuma

Patrick Piuma is a Professor of the Practice at the University of Louisville and Director of its Urban Design Studio, which is part of the Christina Lee Brown Envirome Institute. He specializes in urban design, placemaking, sustainability, and healthy cities. His work focuses on improving the built environment, revitalizing vacant and underutilized urban spaces, and fostering community engagement through collaborative planning and innovative design initiatives. Through partnerships with local government, community organizations, and university researchers, Piuma works to create more vibrant, sustainable, and healthier urban environments that improve residents’ quality of life.
